They become pathological or piles when swollen or inflamed. In their physiological state they act as a cushion composed of arterio-venous channels and connective tissue that aid the passage of stool.

What are hemroids ? In simple terms, hemroids are basically swollen veins around the rectum and anus. But, as the majority of the people, having hemroids are literally a “PAIN” within the butt and are probably the most painful things that sameone can experience.
Hemroids are a very common health problem and generally they are not dangerous, but because these are very painful only need to be treated if they cause very annoying symptoms of hemroids.
Call your doctor if you have bleeding from your rectum, particularly if you are over age 40, when there is an increase in the risk of hemroids bleeding or rectal bleeding from colorectal cancer or other serious digestive diseases.
